How can you fully engage in virtual meetings and make the technology disappear?

For nearly 15 years at Emailogic we have been making technology disappear. And helping our customers do the same.

What we mean by this is that when we have virtual meetings, or deliver virtual training, we work really hard at fully engaging with our audience so that everyone forgets about the technology and they become focused on what is being discussed and shared.

So, in an internal meeting, be it a team meeting, a 1-2-1, a development meeting, creative meeting, planning meeting, or internal training session, the technology is not the focus but the passion, the energy, the fun, the topic, the interaction and most importantly the people – the technology disappears. For external meetings the same thing happens. Whether in development meetings, sales meetings, creative sessions, catch-ups, partner meetings, or client meetings – the technology disappears and the people, the topic, the intent, and the passion become the focus.

So how do we do it?

Firstly, at our end we are fully aware of the technology. It has to be up to the job (we have high standards) meaning the broadband IS broad and the connection is good (ideally hardwired rather than WIFI), the audio quality is the best it can be (a quality microphone), the camera (if we are using it) is adequate and the right distance away from the speaker and at the right height, the background is not too distracting, the lighting is good, and our computers are robust and of the right quality.

Secondly, we know how to drive our technology during meetings, just like we know how to drive a car. This means knowing how to navigate tight corners, heavy traffic and deal with hazards either before they happen or to swiftly avoid an impending accident!

Thirdly – and most importantly – we have a passion to connect, to engage and to have others engage with us. We will do everything necessary to be 100% present and attentive, having done all the necessary preparation to ensure we and the person or people at the other end get the most value from the virtual session. We will inject humour and fun and, most importantly, listen and engage to create the same level of connection as during face to face communication.

We have also been trained in film and radio – and understand why it is so important to employ a different focus than when communicating face to face.

At Emailogic we are 100% focused and committed to making the technology disappear. You might call us virtual wizards. We also teach others how be virtual wizards too – and have been doing so for the past decade. Our customer list is very impressive, in terms of company names and seniority of delegates.

So whether it is you or your colleagues, senior execs doing large briefings or Town Halls, sales or business development, trainers, IT colleagues or anyone else – if you think they would benefit from making the technology disappear in the virtual sessions they attend get in touch.
